Course Description

  • All shipping companies are committed to implement ISO 14001 as their obligation towards environment protection, which has been of great concern to each and every living being on this planet. They are becoming increasingly concerned in achieving & demonstrating sound environmental performance, often delivering cost savings.
  • Overall awareness towards protection of environment needs to be created amongst all individuals on board and in office by motivating and training them.
  • ISO-14001 is an Environmental Management System (EMS) that uses a continual improvement approach in achieving and demonstrating sound environmental performance. The goal is for organizations to control the impacts that their activities, products and services have on the environment.
  • ISO 14000 is the standard, and ISO 14001 is the document containing the requirements.

Scope of the Course

  • This training program will provide participants with an overview of the purpose and requirements of ISO 14001 as a tool for the management of environmental aspects and impacts.
  • Upon completion of the training, the trainee will be able to understand the purpose of an Environmental Management System (EMS) and describe the ISO 14001 standard
  • The Student will also have knowledge of the requirements and the legislative framework relevant to an EMS.
