Salient Features
- Elektronik Lab’s Visual Steering Simulator is designed for imparting effective and practical training to seafarers on steering a ship. It caters to the requirements of STCW rules and regulations.
- It gives a complete view of the horizon as seen from the bridge while steering different types of vessels. Currently, the simulator offers a choice of 5 different ships, viz. General Cargo, Container, Tanker, OBO and Bulk Carrier.
- There is a simulation of Gyrocompass, Rudder Indicator, Telegraph control, Autopilot Deviation meter and the RPM indicator. All the equipments display the current parameters of the ship.
- Steering can be done both in day and night time and in both Open Sea and Restricted waters. The Restricted water scenario provides the facility to the user to choose between the IALA-A and IALA-B Buoyage systems. The helmsman gets the feel of real-life sailing at sea in each of these scenarios.
- Additionally, the instructor can introduce current and wind effects in moderate to poor visibility to make the exercise more interesting and challenging.
- The Simulator provides for a complete 360 degrees view from the bridge. The helmsman can change the angle of view and see the real-time scenario. It also provides the Binocular view of the entire 360 degrees.
- The entire exercise can be recorded for each candidate with his personal details such as Name, Passport/CDC No, etc on a Course vs Time graph. The exercise is stored permanently in the database and the graph can be printed and/or viewed whenever required.
